Bandera County is no longer under a burn ban. However, we should still be prudent about how and when we burn outside. Outside burning in an open area is not recommended on windy days as high winds and just about any spark of any sort will cause a spot fire to erupt.
BE PREPARED TO EVACUATE IF ORDERED! FIRE MAY BE FAST-MOVING AND CHANGE DIRECTION AT ANY TIME DEPENDING ON WEATHER CONDITIONS.
Please observe these simple rules and be mentally awake and prepared at all times.
1. Do not discard cigarette butts from cars or near your own property. (Suggestion: Put your butts in a soda or beer can and once cold, place them in the normal trash)
2. Do not park a recently operate car on the grass for any reason. Keep vehicles to pave surfaces.
3. Keep garden hoses and other firefighting equipment at your residence ready and test them to insure they are fully operational. Be prepared.
4. Be cautious of safety chains on trailers and insure they do not drag the pavement to avoid sparks.
5. Clear out dead brush and vegetation from around your home. Put these items in a fire safe area way from your home and DO NOT BURN THEM.
